A realistic place to start

Your race deserves more than a generic mileage calendar.

Successful race preparation is not just about completing more miles. Every week should balance the work that builds fitness with the recovery that lets you absorb it.

01

Train at the right effort

Give easy runs, quality workouts, race-pace sessions, and long runs a clear purpose so each one supports the larger plan.

02

Build durable mileage

Progress training around your history and recovery while integrating strength and mobility that support—not sabotage—your running.

03

Practice the race before race day

Use key long runs to test pacing, fueling, hydration, gear, and the decisions you will need to make when the race gets difficult.

Personalized every week

A race plan that responds to the runner following it.

01

Map the build from race day backward

We establish your race goal, starting fitness, weekly availability, training history, and the key phases your build requires.

02

Coordinate every part of preparation

Running, strength, mobility, fueling, and recovery work together within one realistic weekly schedule.

03

Review, adjust, and peak

Your feedback and training data guide weekly decisions so the plan stays appropriate through the build and taper.

Common questions

What to know before you begin.

Can you coach me for my first marathon?

Yes. Your plan begins with your current fitness and works backward from race day. Mileage, long runs, quality workouts, strength, fueling practice, recovery, and tapering are coordinated throughout the build.

Do you coach experienced runners chasing a time goal?

Yes. Training can be structured around a realistic performance goal using your recent race results, training history, available weekly mileage, recovery, and race timeline.

How is this different from a downloadable marathon plan?

A downloadable plan stays the same. Personalized coaching changes when fatigue, soreness, weather, work, travel, or your performance indicates that a different approach will serve you better.

Does coaching include strength and fueling?

Yes. Runner-specific strength, mobility, long-run fueling, hydration, recovery, and race-day preparation are integrated with your running rather than treated as unrelated extras.

Can we work together online?

Yes. GTB Performance coaches runners online throughout the United States and also serves runners in Lexington, Kentucky.
